The Department of Justice and Community Safety provides services across six regions of Victoria.
The list below show how the regions cover local government areas (local councils) and the major centres in each area.

Northern Metropolitan region
The North West Metropolitan area includes the suburbs of Broadmeadows, Carlton, Collingwood, Greensborough, Heidelberg, Reservoir, and the city's central business district to the north of Melbourne, and Essendon, Footscray, Sunshine and Werribee to the west of Melbourne.
The area covers 14 local government areas:

The region covers 17 local government areas:

Barwon South West region
The Barwon South West region is located in Victoria’s south west and includes the major centres of Geelong, Warrnambool and Portland.
The region covers nine local government areas:
- Colac-Otway
- Corangamite
- Glenelg
- Greater Geelong
- Moyne
- Queenscliffe
- Southern Grampians
- Surf Coast
- Warrnambool
Gippsland region
The Gippsland region is located in Victoria’s south east and includes the major centres of Morwell, Sale, Bairnsdale and Wonthaggi.
The region covers six local government areas:
- Bass Coast
- Baw Baw
- East Gippsland
- Latrobe
- South Gippsland
- Wellington
Grampians region
The Grampians region is located in Victoria’s mid-west and includes the major centres of Ballarat, Ararat and Horsham.
The region covers 11 local government areas:

Hume region
The Hume region is located in Victoria’s north east and includes the major centres of Wangaratta, Wodonga and Shepparton.

Loddon Mallee region
The Loddon Mallee region is located in Victoria's north-west and includes the major centres of Bendigo, Swan Hill and Mildura.
